Art, in its purest form, serves as the sustenance for an artist's soul.
As an abstract artist, I predominantly explore a non-representational style using acrylics and mixed media. I love the journey without a fixed endpoint, so I paint intuitively, responding dynamically to each brushstroke or mark. I start by writing my intention on the canvas – often imbued with emotion, inner reflections or the echoes of nature. Sometimes it includes verses from songs or poetry, although they remain largely concealed, their intentional vibrations persist. My artistic journey is ever evolving and my style defies easy classification. I experiment with fresh techniques and explore all forms of expression, yet invariably my work is characterized by vivid hues and touches of pink.
Art is a potent tool for elevating our vibrational frequencies for happiness and joy and that includes whether we are creating or appreciating it. I embed each work with affirmations, mostly unseen yet capturing the essence of positivity and conveying that to the viewer. As a practitioner of energy medicine and Reiki, I infuse my work with the high energies of nature and spiritual interconnectedness. Each painting commences with an intention – happiness, exploration, memories, inspiration – allowing it to unfold organically as I react to its evolving narrative on canvas. I am optimistic by nature and so favor vibrant colors, expansive canvases and textured surfaces – Bold, Bright and Big.
Abstract art gives freedom of expression – less confined by a defined endpoint. As such my teaching style has to focus on helping artists find their own voice. Students do not copy me but are guided to create their own unique expression so no two outcomes are the same. We focus on the principles that make abstract come alive like composition, color, values and texture. We explore tools and techniques of all types and enjoy the magical discovery of happy accidents in our art. Each workshop has a direction or an inspiration to help get us underway and the journey of each student’s work inspires me.
